Working-rig total climbs by a lone rig


The total number of rigs work onshore in the Lower 48 U.S. states rose by a single rig during the week ended April 13, data from oilfield services firm Baker Hughes, a GE company, shows.
At April 13, 980 rigs were working onshore in the Lower 48, up from 979 one week earlier, 162 rigs higher than the 818 recorded one year ago, and 79 rigs higher than the 901 rigs working during the week ended Jan. 5, 2018.

Looking at individual drilling areas, eight areas reported a week-to-week increase in working rigs, another eight areas reported a drop in working rigs, and 13 drilling areas reported no week-to-week change.
The biggest week-to-week increase was in Texas, up three rigs to 501, from 498. Just to the east of “The Lone Star State,” Louisiana lost the most working rigs, three, dropping to 37 rigs working, Baker Hughes reported.
