Lindsey Wisnewski’s work as Mizzou Engineering’s international outreach coordinator earned her recognition from not only her peers, but the students she serves, as well.
In the last month, Wisnewski was named MU Service Champion by the MU Staff Advisory Council, which is a peer-nominated award, and she also earned an Advising Shout Out Award from the MU Advisors Forum. The latter award is given twice per semester to undergraduate advisers who are nominated for their work by the students they serve.
“It makes me feel good,” Wisnewski said of the recognitions. “When I’m stressed out, I have things that I can look at and realize it’s worth it.”
Her work to try to meet student needs in the study abroad program helped earn these recognitions. Wisnewski said that listening to the students, creating metrics to find ways to improve and attempting to find more service-oriented projects for students to work on during their time abroad has been key.
“It’s nice to feel like the students recognize what I’m doing, and that I’m trying to help them,” she explained. “They’re why I like to come in every day, to work with them and help them out.”
